Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of Cangyi Tongqiao fumigation solution combined with oral administration of Biyuan Tongqiao granules in the treatment of allergic rhinitis(AR). Methods A total of 70 patients diagnosed with AR at the Otorhinolaryngology Department of Inner Mongolia Baotou Steel Hospital, between July 2023 and November 2024 were enrolled and sequentially randomly divided into control group and experimental group, with 35 patients in each group. The control group was treated with oral Biyuan Tongqiao granules, while the experimental group was additionally treated with hospital-prepared Cangyi Tongqiao fumigation solution applied for oral and nasal steam therapy. Symptom severity was assessed using a visual analogue scale (VAS) score, and the treatment efficacy, drug safety and quality of life were evaluated using the Rhinoconjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire (RQLQ) before and after treatment in two groups. Results After treatment, both groups showed significant improvements in nasal congestion, itching, sneezing and watery nasal discharge, with the experimental group showing greater symptom relief than the control group, the differences between the two groups were statistically significant(t=16.494, 19.160, 19.832, 15.885; all P<0.05). The total effective rate in the experimental group was 82.86%, which was significantly higher than that of the control group (57.14%), the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(χ2=8.413, P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions during treatment was tow and comparable between the two groups (χ2=0.000, P>0.05). After treatment, RQLQ scores were significantly improved in both groups, with the experimental group showing a greater increase than the control group, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (t=49.724, P<0.05). Conclusion The combination of hospital-prepared Cangyi Tongqiao fumigation solution and oral Biyuan Tongqiao granules can effectively alleviate clinical symptoms and improve the quality of life in patients with AR. This approach is safe, cost-effective, and associated with minimal adverse effects, providing a new therapeutic option and clinical reference for the management of allergic rhinitis with Traditional Chinese Medicine, while also offering potential social and economic benefits to our hospital.
